Hi. I’m Debbie , and together with my family, I emigrated from South Africa to the UK in 2016.
Its been a move that has been very rewarding for all of us. Even the tough bits have made us realise how resourceful we can be under pressure, and has made us a lot more resilient, which can only be a good thing!
I’m a very average woman, I love my family, quite like my job, and drink far too much wine. I threaten to exercise, but rarely stick to a program, despite how much I wax lyrical when I first get started!
What I am obsessed about is great food, and, as we are trying to rebuild our life in the UK, money is something we are always trying to save, while still eating well and having a fun life.
I am a fairly decent cook, but like most people dinner had become a bit of a minefield as its the area where we spend a big portion of our income. Its also the area that has been the easiest to clean up, and I really want to share some easy tips for making the most of your groceries, so dinner can be less stressful and costly than it has been in the past.
Along with this I would like to share some of the things that we have learnt about moving countries, obviously with a focus on moving to the UK from South Africa, but I am sure some of the posts will be helpful no matter where you are moving to ,or from.
